Activated Carbon Injection Projects

Activated Carbon Injection Projects

Power Plants, Beulah ND and Stanton ND
2015

ICI has completed two (2) separate mercury emissions removal projects at coal-fired power plants.  Both systems were designed on the basis of injecting a Powder Activated Carbon (PAC) solution, a reagent that reacts with mercury emissions produced from coal combustions, before the exhaust gasses reach the scrubbers.  The scope of work included installing PAC silos, extensive piping, all electrical workscope to complete the systems, structural steel modifications and platform modifications.  Both systems went online in April and June of 2015 and have effectively reduced the mercury exiting the exhaust to a level lower than the current standards.
